The Raw Indie Documentary™
Recording
artist Daryl Hayott has teamed up with Tommy Labs Productions, to film a
documentary featuring unsigned indie artists trying to break into the
industry. The nexus is the lifestyles of these artists and how it serves
their commitments and aspirations. Is their work just more mimic or does it
have a real edge? The corporate aspect is a lot of faceless junk. Packaged
sound. We will expose some work that steps beyond this and the folks who
have the least resources and maintain their sense of purpose.
There will be focuses on the indie experiences of a cross section of both
signed and unsigned musicians from all over the world. It promises to be
very revealing. There is a rise in the number of major artists going indie,
releasing their own work on their own terms. It's also important to mirror
the universal bloodline of different cultures as well as their music world.
It will show a mirror of ourselves artistically and assess where we've
strayed and how we correct this by supporting these folks trying to express
their music on a larger stage. People have become too complacent and jaded.
Art and all it's for should be life giving. Not to be consumed for the sake
of consumption itself.
Daryl Hayott says "This documentary is very important to me on a personal
level. I believe that there are plenty of places where fantastic music goes
unheard because of commercial demographics. I think the major labels still
influence the music landscape in a negative myopic manner. Too many shades
of music to be distilled through corporate mindset. The film is just our way
of presenting a visual journal of what thousands of artists already know.”
